Recently active pets move faster

When I logged into FFS today, I noticed a new person atop my Pet Shop selections.

You may recognize him from this blog. Besides being the most enthusiastic stragey officer of Friends For Sale, Greg is always logging in and making purchases.

Besides the endless commentary in this blog, Greg and I have private IM conversations about FFS strategy, and one common theme is activity. More activity. Log in every hour to see if your pets have flipped. Never let money sit in your queue because it's just gathering dust. Stack your wishlist. Buy as many pets as possible.

Although this may not be a brand new feature, you can filter pets by recently active, instead of most expensive. This helps if you do not have that much money, but most of your friends are very expensive.

I am curious to hear your procedure for choosing a pet. Do you click on Pet Shop first, or do you search for a friend's name and raid their pet list? I do the second thing.

CHOOSING how to buy pets, easy! go for somebody who i have bought a pet from in the past who has then bought the pet back. better chance of quick sale, making proffit quicker!

also i use my wish list differently. instead of adding pets i want to buy, i add the owners who i have dealt with previously, making a pet shop within a pet shop, lol!

Lately my strategy has been to search in my network of pets, their owners and their pets, for those that seem "market hotties", that is, they tend to get traded quickly. Then I also identify if any of their typical buyers are online now or show recent activity. I also determine if they have enough cash to buy back any pets that I buy from them. Then I will buy one or more of their preferred pets in a little "raid," as you put it.

If I don't hear quickly, I generally post a quick note on their Wall that I've bought their pet.

Usually this is enough to spark an immediate bidding frenzy back and forth until one of us runs out of money--or in my case, I've reaped enough profits from those trades and decide to move on to new opportunities.

Recently, I have made friendships (and built up other people's values) by playing the now extinct 'chat' feature. Since a lot of my local friends aren't into the FFS thing, this has opened up a new way to play for me.

Anyway, in the short time that the chat was around, I networked and made some friends, so I normally steal from them, and they steal back. Since we both understand FFS and the money making system, it's become a great partnership. Even now, we agree amongst a group of people whose value we're going to raise next and just go from there, with everyone getting a cut of the profit.

As for my local friends, there is this one guy who all of my other friends dislike, and so they look to me to be constantly bought out of his hands. So we have wars with literally all the people that we mutually know going back and forth between us. Great fun & profit. I don't often buy anyone else, though. I feel like if I randomly find people, that I sit on them for way too long when I could have that money invested in pets that are sure to go in the next few hours!

I could care less about buying pets that are recently active. I look at the history of buying. I want to buy pets that will be bought back. So the minifeed is my friend when buying pets.

I tried the buying hotties, and they don't move nearly as quickly as one would think. You have to buy pets from active players. Generally female pets net higher returns and are more likely to be bought back.

Another thought which seems to be true as well, pets that have people writing on their wall seem to be relatively good buys even if they aren't very active.

hey - i set a pet free, and it shows up in their mini-feed that their value was lowered, but when i go to buy them again, it says they still cost the old high price . . . is that a bug?

Personally I think the application misses some features to help buyers search. The «Recently active» pet list you mention is not always accurate. It's not rare to see the same people on top or even in the first pages. Not because they are active, their last «update» can be over 12hours ago and they will be near the top. I feel like there is a server cache of some kind that is only refreshed once in a while (I know it's not client side - I've done many tests). And they can be shown as active only because someone bought one of their pets they bought 1 month ago, but THEY have been inactive for 2 weeks... so it should show the traded pet instead.

It would be nice to add options to the search. Like being able to search by a range of value, to list the active buyers only, or to list the pets that were recently traded only, etc.

My strategy is I always look for pets with an recent active history of being sold a few times (3-4 times in the last 0-2 days max). But in certain situations it's also good to buy a not so active pet just to restart the trading history of that pet and make a few bucks.

What's also important to watch for is when the buying history is one of a raid that was over a few hours or minutes ago, you never know if you'll be the last one leaving the party who will pay the bills, and being stuck with a high valued pet that won't sell quickly. My golden rule is to sell fast. Fast fast fast is even better. If I can sell all my pets in less than 24 hours I'm a happy business man.

The price also influences me. Below $150-200k is good for me. The higher the price, the greater the recent activity should be.

I also like to spot whatever profile and click on the pets who have just been bought from that person. Moving from profile to profile searching for the good occasions to make quick money.

Doing so helped me make over $2M in less about 2 weeks, since I started playing the game. Call me addicted.

I guess my next step is to find a business partner who's not affraid of making money. I'm working on it. And then the supreme goal: 1 billion dollars.

Thanks for your cool blog :)

Keep files on people you see on your travels. Put everyone into bookmarks, categorised on why you were interested in them. In your travels you'll spot pets that you're interested in - have them ready and at hand before you have the money or opportunity to buy them, so you won't be wasting time looking for pets when the time comes.

the recently actice pets are changing just once a day... that is boring.

I actually have a request..can you add an option to the FFS application so that I can actually give my 'pets' FFS money and also allow me to buy myself back if someone bought me and I really don't want them to own me? Thanks!!!

i built up a large inventory, and i have keep buying back my pets to keep the money rolling. when one of them gets too expensive for that particular day, i let it lie, and get back later to buy him/her. all my raids are directed against people who raided my stock in the first place. when and if i still have money to buy one or two low priced pets, i go and hit the pet shop.

I see who bought my pets, then I check out their pet collections, and I buy their pets.

My friends don't really play FFS. =/

I go to the pet shop first, I look for nice pictures and also look out for pets surnames and if there owners is the same, as family will almost always buy back.
I love the pets for sale as if someones put a hottie on sale or a pet is new and a hottie there is a mad bid, you just have to know when to stop so you're not left with a highly expensive, inactive pet!
I also use my wish list as a petshop, wishlisting people who do very well and have a high turnover of pets and who are also trusted.

I agree with some comments here like what JFR said that the recently active pets is not updated accuratly

i tried to buy a pet from the list but i was surprised that its price was way diffrent from the one mentioned ,,, also i bought some pets but they seems not to move at all :S

regarding the search option i am pointing it again here ,, i think it would be nice if i can search for some pets who are not on my friend list !!!1

i usually go through and buy the most expensive pet i can out of my friends, and then buy all their pets, and then go to the next expensive one, and buy them and their pets, and so forth. this works because only a handful of my friends are reall expensive, over 2,000, and the rest are cheap.

I have 350 friends on-hand now, clicking everyone of them is a hussle. Can the developers addon a mass-select function and dictate a common action?
