Putting Pets On Sale

When you own a pet, there is an option to put the pet "On Sale". I have said before that this is a very bad idea. You simply lose money when you do it.

There is at least one reason why you would do this on purpose, and for strategic benefit. Recall my post about people competing for the top spot on networks. If you are playing that way, and you manage to purchase one of your opponents... hehe... guess what? Put them on sale. Over and over and over. Just smash that link as many times as you can.

If they have a friend catch it in time, they might get bought away from you and block your devaluation. But that's unlikely. The normal result is that you'll drive them down to a $500 price.

Mind you: if you bought them for $1 million, then you're going to lose all of that money. At the end of your link-smashing, the pet will sell for a pittance. But they're going to be out of the running for a while. Also note that you're out one million that could have been invested into your own value. Worthwhile? Your call.

If you're not playing for Top Network Position, then a devaluation is awesome. As your value drops, you lose nothing. But as people buy you back/forth up to your previous value, you will make a ton of cash.

woah.. never thought that devalutation would be a good thing.

....although, being worth a lot is cool, too!

Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend that course of action. Not only would it destroy your cash reserves, it wouldn't have the desired effect for very long anyway.

As you've pointed out, the person's value will raise again, and they'll end up with more money.

As a result, they can then enter a value-raising agreement (as mentioned in a recent post) and possibly get their value even higher than it was to begin with.

I think you can actually win money putting someone on sale... how?

figure you have this really good looking girl that nobody notices, you put her on sale and generate a little price war were you can profit and get rid of the not selling good looking girl...

what you think?

As coke said - it can be a good way of selling pets that aren't moving but would normally be in demand. Often only one click of the for sale button and a few seconds later you have your cash. It can make your pet a bit upset though if they think their value is important - best to put on sale as a last resort.

Coke it's certainly possible, if the loss is trivial enough. Putting a cheap pet on sale might get someone to notice your shop too which is a good thing.

It is a very bad idea to put someone on sale (who's worth some cash)
Ive tried this with a girl who was worth around 100.000, when i got to 10.000, everybody began to buy her and made her gain more money and value in a few minutes than she made in months.
The thing is there is ppl who stalk the "on sale" in the pet shop.
and when a person is repeatedly put on sale they begin to buy. ESPECIALLY

if that person is a girl...
but it works with guys :) lol
weird.
The cool thing about this, is it gave me a new way of playing.
Trying to figure out who wants to devaluate some1 and buy that some1 for the devaluator to buy it again
i dont know if i just made sense.
Anyways peace out and cool app :)

in short, it's a great way to start an artificial bidding war, but you might end up either with a devaluated pet that no one will buy, or with an overpriced pet and an awful cash shortage.

this is called "slashing". it really has no place in an application whose purpose is to create affirmative environs. i cant believe you're actually encouraging it as "strategy". it just sucks when you get slashed without warning.

Pets can now be put on sale no more that 5 times in one day - negating this strategy. Maybe the developers read your blog?
